In 1986, the society organized the first annual Vancouver Wooden Boat Festival as a feature during the Vancouver World Exposition (Expo 86). For five months, visitors from around the world visited Vancouver’s inner harbour to take in the many displays, sites and country’s exhibits and for several weeks of the summer they toured wooden boats at the docks. The legacy of the Festival as lived on for 30 years now and has become one of the longest running public events in the city.
